Whistler Canada Tourist Information
One of the most popular things to do in Whistler is to ride a gondola up into the snowcapped mountains.
There are two gondolas that operate from Whistler Village. The Fitzsimmons Express Gondola runs from the town centre to the Roundhouse Lodge on Whistler Mountain. The Excalibur Gondola runs from the village up Blackcomb Mountain.
In the Upper Village, there is a gondola and chairlift that runs up Blackcomb Mountain.
The Creekside Gondola shuttles passengers from the Creekside District up Whistler Mountain.
Thanks to the resort's massive Peak-2-Peak Gondola, visitors can now ride up one mountain, catch the Peak-2-Peak to the other mountain. They can then return to town on a different gondola.
There are plenty to things to do in the high mountains regardless of the time of year. In winter and spring, skiing and snowboarding is the order of the day. In summer and fall, hiking, mountain biking and mountain-top dining are popular activities.
Regardless of when you visit Whistler, you will enjoy spectacular views of the mountains, glaciers and the picturesque valley.
The gondolas operate daily throughout the year. Please keep in mind, however, that the temperatures can be quite cool at the top of the lifts (6,000 ft). Even in the summer months, there can be snow at the summit.
Make sure to bring along appropriate clothing!
