In December 2008, a new gondola began operating at the Whistler Blackcomb Ski Resort. It was called the "Peak 2 Peak" gondola.
This breathtaking addition to the resort connected Blackcomb Mountain directly to Whistler Mountain at the 6,000 foot level.

When it was launched in 2008, the 4.4 km (2.73 mi) gondola became the highest lift of its kind in the world.
