In December 2008, a new gondola began operating at the Whistler Blackcomb
Ski Resort.
Called the "Peak 2 Peak" gondola, the massive new lift connects Blackcomb Mountain
directly to Whistler Mountain at the 6,000 foot level. When launched, the 4.4 km (2.73
mi) lift became the highest lift of its kind in the world.
